BBC World Service 2009 Prelude
The brief was to create a fresher,more contemporary and easily recognisable identity for BBC World Service Radio, which is heard by over 40 million people worldwide. Here's the prelude heard every hour before the pips.

I created this with Simon Darlow, and in the process we met some great new vocalists and performers - the lead vocal is performed by Avivit Caspi.

The One Show 2009 BBC1
For this I was asked to pitch in an idea as far away from the News sound as possible, for a show about people. After a fair amount of hard work and several attempts with different ideas, this was the final result. We also managed to get 5000 kids singing along with it for the Christmas version at a Young Voices concert at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham

Grand Designs 2009 Channel 4
The original idea came really quickly for this, after talking to the Grand Designs Team. For me, those ideas are usually the best. It's also been really popular, I wrote a specially extended track for one viewer to walk down the aisle to at her wedding. You can buy music from the series here.

Great to see this now on Sunday evenings- I composed the theme tune for the first series in 1988. I've done a couple of different ones since then, the last was in 1997.

I wrote this for the first series way back in 1994, the programme was then called "Police Stop" There have been four more series over the subsequent years, the last in 2002. Interesting digging out all the old samples for this latest remix.

This was a challenge, to create something authentically Arabic in style, whilst making it strong enough to be a lasting musical identity. This is a directors cut mix of the music for ADTV1

Evacuees Reunited ITV1
Working on this series for Christmas 2008 was chance to do something evocative, to capture the feelings of being an evacuee. The producers asked if the tune could echo the title "Evacuees Reunited" as legendary composer Ronnie Hazlehurst used to do so well (think Last Of The Summer Wine), It appears in the last few bars.

This is the first time I've ever written for and worked with a choir - The BBC Singers, twenty six of them all together. The arrangement and conducting was kindly done for me by Mark Warman.

Guilty Pleasures ITV1
I wrote this with Simon Darlow - we had a great time re-creating this 70's Glam Rock feel, for the show in March 2008

Wild Caribbean BBC2 2007
This was Written to accompany magical images of coral opening and feeding after dark. The guitar is played by Jesus Cutino from Cuba, who together with Vo, played a lot on the series. The guitar became an important part of the musical identity.

Ivor Novello Awards Ivors Theme
A new theme to celebrate the 50th anniversary Ivor Novello awards in 2005. I was thrilled to be asked to write a piece for this highly respected music event.

The idea of this was to create the excitement felt by the actors as they walked up the red carpet.. I think the flash fx work really nicely. This was broadcast in 2006

Eastenders (Original Music by Simon May)
This was very satisfying to work on. The title track is my arrangment of Simon May's classic tune, and the programme was the first drama score I had done

The Really Wild Show BBC1

I had a long and wonderful relationship with this show, which had its last episode in 2006, after running for twenty years. This was my most recent theme for the show, which ran from 2004. In 2003 I came up with another new track for the show. Prior to that I'd come up with about three different variations of the previous theme, which had been used since the programme started. I rearranged it for the first time in the early 1990's.

Wildlife on One BBC1
Another long running BBC series this one, which ran for 28 years and which was usually presented by Sir David Attenborough. In this new title sequence from 2000, we wanted to create the idea of the animals literally jumping out of your TV set.

Newsbeat BBC Radio 1
Radio 1 asked me to do this version for them, based on the News music. It was on air for a year or so in 2003.

Essential Byron
I really enjoyed working on this project, I loved the idea of Byron's poetry dramatized in a modern contemporary setting, which shows how timeless it is. I was particularly thrilled with the way that my music worked with Rosamund Pyke's performance here.
